MAKE YOUR OWN NOTEPADS
written by Chrissy

This is a great way to recycle, or to give your notepads a nice, personal touch. It's really simple to make your own notepads, all you need are the following materials:

  • Paper (I used old photocopies of readings for my classes last semester)
  • 3 - 4 bulldog clamps per pad that you will make(depending on size)
  • Scissors
  • Craft knife
  • Ruler
  • Pencil & Eraser
  • Padding glue (or regular white glue if you don't have any)
  • Optional: Cardboard (for a cover, or to make a stiff back for your notepad Magnet (so you can stick your notepad on your fridge or any metal surface)

Once you've gathered your materials, decide what size of notepad you want to make. I decided to make a notepad that's 1/8th the size of a regular letter sized (8.5" x 11") sheet of paper. Cut your sheets to this size, making sure your cuts are even (cut your card to the same size if you're going to put a some on the back). Once you finish cutting your paper up, gather all of the sheets and take great care to stack them up evenly. Then put bulldog clamps on each side close to the edge that you will glue up.

Grab your glue and spread some thickly and evenly over the top of the pad, making sure that you get some glue on every nook and cranny (this is so no sheets will fall off randomly). Once you finish doing this, put a third clamp over the top.

Leave it to dry and apply another layer of glue. If you're using regular white/craft glue, it's advisable to put several layers so that the glue will hold. Glue the magnet to the back, close to the top where the glued part is if you want.

And there you go, your very own notepad! Feel free to mix it up, use colored/printed paper, make covers, experiment! You can give them away as gifts, or use them, or you can even sell them if you'd like. ♥
